BRIEF | Design a planting plan that creates year-round seasonal interest and colour. As well as provide consolation for the hard landscaping and border design.

DESIGN | We have worked with the steep terraced garden to build layers of planting through the garden that enhance the views both from the windows of the house and at the top terrace.

The garden has several areas such as woodland, a rockery and borders around the lawn in an exposed site. We have designed threads of colour that are stitched through the garden and the seasons creating a connection throughout. Each season brings another layer of colour and texture with a theme of blues and purples on a background of lush green and highlights of oranges and yellow dotted through the garden. As the garden heads into winter, there is a strong winter structure using grasses, evergreens and seasonal bulbs so the garden is enjoyed throughout the year.

The planting has also been designed with wildlife in mind keeping the winter steams and flowering going throughout the winter is not only visually pleasing but also creates habitats for beneficial wildlife. A small slate water feature was also nestled within the planting to quiet the noise of the roads while also creating a source of water wildlife can drink from.
